Christmas Tree Alternatives
Many people like myself, tend to getaway for the Christmas holidays. It is a great time to get away from the cold weather that we are slowly trying to adjust to, and to recharge our batteries for the start of the New Year.
Although I am not here for Christmas Day, I still love the lights & decorations that adorn our houses throughout the festive season. My apartment is quite small & it doesn't make sense to invest in a tree, when I won't be here for 2 weeks. This year I decorated my fig tree, which in fact is taller than me, so made a perfect Christmas Tree alternative. I wrapped it with white lights & carefully hung my treasured ornaments that I have collected from different parts of the world, something that brings me sentiment & memories of my travels. I placed red & white poinsettas around the base & it looks beautiful.
If you don't have a tree in your home, another thing you can do is collect some large branches & spray paint them silver or gold, place them in a large beautiful vase & hang your treasured ornaments. There are no rules, there are many ways that you can bring the feeling of the holiday season & Christmas into your home, if only for a short time.
